And We are off

Highs, Lows and In-Betweens

We rolled out so much this week that I am surprised the teammates still had stamina Friday afternoon. They are such a strong and empowered group of children, and I am glad to be able to say that I know them.

On Monday we met with running partners and rolled out the Election Quest. The teammates were struggling with how to approach the task in their small groups. For some of our teammates this is their first official group project. I could see the look of shock on their faces so I called them over and we set deadlines for each section. I loved how they analyzed and thought through which parts were important.

On Tuesday we rolled out core skills time and yoga. Yoga was such an exciting time. The teammates jumped right in and had a blast. The teammates have a folder with all of their badge descriptions and badges so that they can look at them as they set goals. I allowed the teammates to walk me through what their folder should look like and the materials inside. From their description, I was able to create a sample folder. There were a lot of questions about the new platforms. I sat with the teammates and showed them the reasons we carefully chose each platform.

By Wednesday, I was checking in with the Election Quest groups and I was extremely proud of the effort they started putting into their research. They had even began to divide up the research so that they will be ready on September 29th to present their first part.

Thursday was the first day that I was completely hands-off during their core skills time and they soared. I checked in with them to make sure that they were able to login and get started, but they were on a roll.

On Friday, we closed out with a quick discussion about the Election Quest. The teams all shared the same sentiment of coming together more and staying focused. We rounded out creating SMART goals and finding our focus point.

I am looking forward to next week. We have so many adventures planned and I want to see how they tackle them.
