Our week at a glance:
It is hard to believe that we have been in school for almost a week. The teammates have already shown a lot of growth, and I am anxious to see what goals they will set for the school year. During our first week of school, we did a lot of team building exercises to help the teammates get to know each other, have fun, and set the tone for the school year. The teammates worked together to strategically solve problems, overcome their anxieties, and embrace their new space.
We have not separated the teammates into their respective studios. Our current goal is to ensure that the students are familiar with their teammates and the space. Once we feel that the this has been achieved, we will gradually separate them through a series of activities to make the transition smooth for all.
We have been prepping the teammates about their separation to ease any anxiety and fears they may have. We have allowed the teammates to ask questions and give us feedback about the new changes that are happening this school year. It has been a refreshing experience to see a group of young people voice their thoughts and opinions with passion.
Sense of Freedom
As we begin to separate the students into their studios, we will continue to roll out systems and processes to guarantee that we not only create a sense of community, but a safe space for our teammates. While safety is our number one priority, we want make certain that the teammates understand why there are systems in place.
